Sam Njabulo Mkhize

Parish Council Secretary

Sam Mkhize writes: I grew up at Maphumulo where I finished the Secondary Education and proceeded to Umlazi for Matriculation. I then proceeded to the University of Zululand where I obtained the Secondary Teachers’ Diploma in 1971.

My first job was teaching at Lamontville High School for four years after which I joined the textile Company based in Jacobs where I worked for eight years as a Training Officer. In 1984 I joined the National Productivity Institute as a Projects Manager until 1995 when I joined a consulting Company, which was later taken over by Deloitte and Touché and my role was Employee Development Consultant .

In 1999 I obtained the Advanced Human Resource Diploma with distinction and in 2002 then joined Federal – Mogul in Pinetown as the Human Resource Development Manager until in 2009 when I was promoted to the current position of Human Resource Manager now based in Prospecton.

I am a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and have held various positions within the church and have been with this Parish since 1968.

Married with two daughters and three grandchildren.

My favourite Bible verse is Phillippians 4:6  “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.


The Durban Central Parish is led by the Parish Council. The clergy comprises of the parish pastor, a second full-time pastor, a pastor in the tent-making ministry (self-supporting), and a retired pastor.
