The isiZulu-term “iMbokodo” has several meanings, one of which is the hard grinding stone (used to crush maize corn to make maize flour for porridge). Amongst others, this name describes the resilience of the African women. Similarily this term is used in the slogan – “Wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo” – translated loosely with: “Strike a women – strike a rock!” This is one of the younger movements in our parish, made up of women who meet with a special focus on fundraising for church activities, providing catering at such events and encouraging one another spiritually to lead a life, in which the relevance of the gospel is lived out.
